One must admit that American show business continues to surprise, even us. On one hand, Americans like to highlight their prudishness, while on the other, their media are dominated by figures of questionable reputation. For instance, this year NBC’s special correspondent at the Paris Olympics is... Snoop Dogg.
Snoop Dogg is making millions in Paris
True, the rapper has quite strong ties with the sports industry (he runs his own youth American football league), but most people still associate him with red eyes and rapping about so-called happy cigarettes. It was hard to avoid these associations, especially when he proudly walked with the Olympic torch.
As it turns out, Americans saw great potential in Snoop as a sports correspondent. His work was reportedly valued at astronomical sums. At least, that's what a post on platform X by Henry L. McNamara suggests.
Sat next to an NBC exec at dinner, and they said Snoop is getting $500,000 a day plus expenses to be here promoting the Olympics. From gin and juice to a few million for being a celeb at the Games—what a world!, we read.

Of course, NBC officials did not confirm the amount for which the rapper was hired. Whatever it was, it apparently was worth it. According to The Washington Post, compared to the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, viewership increased by 79%. This is attributed to the involvement of Snoop.
The star's earnings may not sit well with everyone opposed to his involvement in the Olympics. It's worth noting, however, that late last year, the 52-year-old announced that he quit smoking marijuana.
