Will the Kremlin build Trump Tower in Moscow?
According to reports from "The Moscow Times," Russian officials are considering the possibility of reviving plans to construct Trump Tower in Moscow.
The project entails building a 150-storey skyscraper in the capital's business district, with Donald Trump anticipated to participate in the groundbreaking ceremony. The objective was to capture Trump's interest and enhance relations between Russia and the U.S.
Following Trump's victory in the U.S. presidential election, Russian officials and large companies were tasked with preparing proposals to resume cooperation with the United States. Specific attention was given to ideas that might appeal to Trump. Russian companies such as Rosneft, Rosatom, and Polyus Gold, which are under U.S. sanctions, took part in the plans.
Return to a project from years ago
The initial plans to construct Trump Tower in Moscow surfaced in 2013, when Trump proposed a 58-storey skyscraper. This project did not materialise, but in 2015, Felix Sater, an American developer of Russian origin, sought to revive it. The project was again halted when Trump's presidential campaign began.
The proposed Trump Tower in Moscow was to feature 250 luxury apartments, a 15-storey hotel with 150 rooms, a spa, office space, a fitness centre, and a luxury parking area.
