Kursk devastation: Russian forces flatten Darjino village

Darjino in the Kursk region has been razed to the ground. Ukrainians have shown what the area looks like following a month of Russian assault. "Russians turn everything to ashes," states the 225th Assault Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The footage of what remains of the village of Darjino in the Sudzhansky district of the Kursk region after the Russian offensive was released by the Ukrainian strike group "Black Swan" from the 225th Assault Battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Scorched earth tactics

"This is how Darjino in the Kursk region appears after a month of Russian assault. Whereas we once thought the 'scorched earth' tactic was reserved for places like Syria or Ukraine, it is apparent now that even their own land holds no importance to them. The land is for resource extraction, the people exist to extract those resources, yet no interest lies in building or development. Barbarians," reads the unit's statement.

On Thursday, Ukrainian troops captured 27 Russian soldiers in the Kursk region in western Russia, as reported by the press service of Ukraine's airborne assault forces on social media.

Soldiers laid down their arms: prisoners near Kursk

"In recent days, 27 enemy soldiers were taken captive during military operations. They include officers, sergeants, and soldiers from motorised units, naval infantry, airborne troops, and other military formations, representing various regions of Russia and the temporarily occupied Sevastopol," according to the statement.

In the Kursk region, where Ukrainian troops have been operating since August 2024, the Russian armed forces have commenced a new phase of the offensive to drive the Ukrainians out. This phase has proven more successful for the Russians than previous attempts, partly due to support from North Korean soldiers.
