Lavrov insults Zelensky, praises Trump during Ukraine assault
Russia continues its brutal assault on Ukraine. When questioned about negotiations, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov made an insulting remark concerning Volodymyr Zelensky, all the while offering praise to Donald Trump.
Many of the reports from Russian media or government representatives are elements of propaganda. These accounts form part of the information warfare conducted by the Russian Federation.
Sergey Lavrov, the Russian Foreign Minister, was questioned about whether he believed Volodymyr Zelensky would come to the negotiating table following the suspension of military aid by the United States.
- I cannot read thoughts of that human. On the other hand, you can hardly call him human - Lavrov replied insultingly.
Lavrov praises Trump
Simultaneously, the Russian Foreign Minister has expressed approval of Donald Trump. In the wake of turmoil in the White House, he declared that US President Donald Trump is a "pragmatist," and his associates, including Secretary of State Marco Rubio, "are absolutely reasonable people."
In an interview with media from the Russian Defence Ministry, Lavrov mentioned that Trump's slogan - "common sense" - signifies a "shift to a different way of conducting affairs."
He also remarked that discussions about the presence of European forces in Ukraine are "audacious," noting that "no one asks Russia" for its view on the matter. He commended Trump for what he described as "proper behaviour."
Attacks on Ukraine
Russian troops launched an attack on Ukraine overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday, coinciding with Donald Trump's speech in the US, deploying 181 drones and four missiles; 115 unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down, according to the Ukrainian Air Force. Another energy facility was targeted in the Odesa region, as reported by the private energy company DTEK.
