Lesotho fires back: Invites Trump to see "Kingdom in the Sky"
The Foreign Minister of Lesotho, Lejone Mpotjoane, expressed surprise and indignation following Donald Trump's statement that "no one has ever heard" of Lesotho. Mpotjoane has invited the US president to visit the African country.
During his address to Congress, Donald Trump mentioned the "shocking wastefulness" of state funds, including $6 million (approximately £4.9 million) allocated for promoting LGBTQI+ rights in Lesotho. He remarked that "no one has ever heard" of the country.
Social media was abuzz, with the representative of the Lesotho government unable to conceal his surprise and indignation.
The Foreign Minister, Lejone Mpotjoane, considered these comments offensive and invited Trump to visit Lesotho, describing it as a "significant and unique nation".

Mpotjoane emphasised that Lesotho, known as the "Kingdom in the Sky", is a mountainous nation surrounded by the Republic of South Africa, with a population of roughly 2 million people.
The minister highlighted that although some organisations supported by the USA promote the LGBT+ community, the United States also invests in healthcare and agriculture in Lesotho.
