Recently, a photo of the star taken just minutes before his death, sourced from hotel surveillance, surfaced in the media. It shows a group of men carrying Liam into a room. According to the TMZ site, Liam was moved and locked inside the room. As reported, the 31-year-old revealed to one of the staff members that he didn’t want to be locked in the room and planned to escape via the balcony. A transcript of the staff's conversation with emergency services was also revealed.
I don’t know if his life might be in danger. He’s in a room with a balcony and, well, we are a bit scared, said a hotel employee quoted by TMZ.
According to the police report cited by the service, a brown leather bag with a note saying "for Liam" was found on the lower floor's balcony, indicating that the singer intended to escape from the locked hotel room. TMZ's editorial pointed out that a small bag was reportedly found next to the body, which the star didn’t have in the photo just before being taken to his room by staff minutes before his death. It was emphasised that despite the state visible in the photo, Payne must have been "clearly conscious" when stepping onto the balcony.
In the past, Liam had escaped similarly. In September in Florida, a security guard feared the artist might have been under the influence, so he locked him in a room. At that time, he escaped from a rented house using a garden hose.
