Los Angeles engulfed: Firefighting efforts battle fierce winds
The threat is not over yet. Police officers and firefighters are preparing for more difficult hours in areas of Los Angeles affected by fires. Thousands of homes have burned down, and more may still be within the reach of the flames. The worst may come in the coming hours.
The Mayor of Los Angeles, Karen Bass, announced on social media that police and fire teams assigned to fight the fire continue their work. She emphasised that the officers will protect the residents.
However, the Mayor warned that the windstorm is likely to intensify throughout the morning. "Therefore, residents should follow local warnings, remain vigilant, and take care of their safety," the official stressed.

She reminded that strict parking restrictions have been implemented. In areas marked in red on the map, parking is still prohibited.
The Pacific Palisades fire, a favourite neighbourhood of celebrities and film stars, erupted on Tuesday evening. Alerts that a major fire could occur had already appeared the previous day.
The disaster happened due to the severe drought and strong winds. People tried to escape from the element in their cars, but many had to abandon their vehicles at the last moment and flee on foot.
Nearly 1,200 hectares have already burned. The city has declared a state of emergency. The firefighting efforts are hindered by winds as strong as a tornado.
Now, the services are focusing on saving human lives. There is no chance to stop the fire in the coming hours.
