Macron reaffirmed France’s unwavering support for Ukraine as he began his speech at a joint conference with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. He emphasized that the world has entered a new era, where Russia’s aggression not only threatens global stability and the international order but also directly impacts Europe’s security.

The President of France emphasized that for several weeks, efforts have been focused on a crucial phase to bring an end to Russian aggression. He noted that Ukraine had agreed to a 30-day ceasefire without preconditions during talks in Jeddah and expressed the expectation that Russia would demonstrate the same level of commitment.

Macron referred to the 30-day truce concerning strikes on energy infrastructure as a first step. He pointed out that Russia continues to escalate its attacks daily, demonstrating its readiness for war and ongoing aggression. He stressed that the next move now depends on Moscow's commitment.

The President of France emphasised that Russia must agree to a 30-day ceasefire without preconditions.

He also stated firmly that it is too early to discuss lifting sanctions against Moscow.

Zelensky has expectations towards the USA

Macron announced that at Thursday's "coalition of the willing" summit, further actions by Kyiv's allies will be discussed.

He also pledged further military support from France for Ukraine worth approximately 2.1 billion euros.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that the situation in the Black Sea remains complex, as Moscow is trying to impose additional conditions on an agreement that was initially established without any preconditions.

The Ukrainian president emphasized that they expect the American side to guarantee the unconditional nature of the ceasefire at sea.
