Mcdonald's revenue drops, plans new strategy to bounce back
At the beginning of 2025, McDonald's recorded its largest drop in revenue since the pandemic. The fast-food giant is preparing to implement significant changes, including adjusting prices and launching a marketing campaign.
In the first quarter of 2025, McDonald's revenue in the USA fell by 3.6% compared to the first three months of 2024. The company hadn't reported such poor results for five years, according to the German website karlsruhe-insider.de.
"More and more people have to control their household budget and think carefully about every penny spent. Most people have no choice but to thoroughly consider what they really need. Naturally, the first things you save on are those you can easily do without," the site reports.
However, McDonald's has a plan to reverse this trend. The giant intends to release promotional videos and make the chain's locations more attractive as places to work. Prices will also be adjusted to the new reality, writes karlsruhe-insider.de.
The largest McDonald's restaurant
Despite the difficulties, the chain recently opened its largest location. The restaurant is located at Son San Juan Airport in Palma, Majorca. The location is approximately 1,000 square metres.
The restaurant offers 40 digital kiosks and eight order fulfilment lines to streamline customer service. Additionally, the location offers table service and a McCafé. The new fast-food location employs nearly 200 people, making it one of the largest employers in the region.
