Medvedev demands "victory for Russia" in Ukraine talks

The Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, Dmitry Medvedev, stated on Tuesday that the objective of peace talks with Ukraine is not to achieve a compromise, but rather a "victory for Russia." The former president stressed that this is the intention behind the memorandum that Moscow presented to Kyiv during Monday's discussions in Istanbul.

During Monday's negotiations between the delegations of both countries in Istanbul, the Russian side set forth its demands. These include the complete withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from the Kherson, Donetsk, Luhansk, and Zaporizhia regions within 30 days of the ceasefire announcement, Ukraine's neutrality, a reduction in the size of the Ukrainian army, and the organisation of new parliamentary and presidential elections in Ukraine.

The Istanbul talks are not for striking a compromise peace on someone else's delusional terms but for ensuring our swift victory and the complete destruction of the neo-Nazi regime, wrote Medvedev on Telegram.

Medvedev also announced retaliation for the successful attacks by Ukrainian forces on Russian airbases.

On Sunday, as part of Operation "Spider Web" conducted by Ukraine's Security Service, which involved simultaneous strikes on four military airports in Russia, 41 aircraft of Russian strategic aviation were destroyed or damaged.
