Medvedev's ominous warning: Poland and Romania on edge

The Kremlin representative confirmed that Moscow might decide to launch an attack on military targets in these two countries. This could occur if "the escalation scenario continues to unfold."

Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of the Russian Federation and former president of the country, stated in an interview with Al Arabiya television, "Nothing can be ruled out." The Russian politician acknowledged the possibility when asked whether the Kremlin might launch an invasion on NATO targets.
The Russian agency TASS quotes fragments of Medvedev's interview. They include his statements about Russia's anticipated reaction to "escalation from the West" and the actions that might be taken to neutralise the long-range weapons produced in Western countries.
Medvedev threatens Poland: another country in Russia's sights
The politician said, "If the escalation scenario continues to unfold, it won’t be possible to exclude anything." He justified such reactions from Russia as possible because NATO member states have effectively fully engaged in this conflict.
Medvedev confirmed that an attack on military centres in Poland and Romania is likely. NATO missile defence bases are located in both countries—in Redzikowo in Pomerania and in Deveselu in the southern part of Romania.
Medvedev pointed out that Western countries must realise that they are participating in this war on the side of Ukraine. "They are not just fighting by providing them (the Ukrainians—TASS) with weapons and funds. They are directly involved in military operations because they identify targets in Russia and guide US- and European-made missiles. They are fighting against Russia. And if so, nothing can be excluded."
He added that "even the most difficult and sad scenario is possible."
- We would not want such scenario, we have all said that repeatedly. We want peace, but this peace must take Russia’s interest into consideration in full - emphasised the Deputy Chairman of the National Security Council of the Russian Federation.
Maria Zakharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, previously mentioned the Polish military base in Redzikowo. She stated that the site "is on Moscow's list of priority targets."
