Germany suspects sabotage at one of its military facilities. The water there was allegedly contaminated. There were also reports of problems at another base, but the army denied them.

The military base in Cologne has its own water supply. A Bundeswehr spokesperson reported that on Wednesday evening, electronic sensors were triggered. When a patrol was dispatched, they noticed a person fleeing who could not be apprehended.

During the search, a hole in the fence was found. According to "Der Spiegel," an investigation into possible sabotage has been launched.

The water is suspected to have been contaminated. The Bundeswehr received several reports of gastrointestinal issues. The barracks were closed, and soldiers and civilians working at the facility were prohibited from drinking tap water.

Problems at another base?

Media reported that a similar incident might have occurred at the NATO airbase in Geilenkirchen, where Alliance reconnaissance planes are stationed. However, a spokesperson refuted these reports, emphasising that only the security level was raised. The facility's water was checked and found to be fine.

In recent months, several acts of sabotage and attempted sabotage have occurred across Europe, including at military facilities. Many arrests have been made in these cases. According to investigators, the actions are being carried out at the behest of Russian services.
