  • Hayley Berry was detained by the police in Ramsgate for driving under the influence of drugs while transporting her children.
  • During the court hearing, it emerged that she unknowingly consumed drugs provided by her partner.
  • Berry pleaded guilty and received a one-year suspended sentence and a two-and-a-half-year driving ban.

How did the arrest happen?

Hayley Berry, a 36-year-old resident of Ramsgate, was noticed by her parents when she displayed unusual driving behaviour. She stopped the car in the middle of the street, raising suspicions. One of the witnesses took her keys, and mothers present at the scene escorted the children to school. The police promptly arrived and arrested the woman.

What did the blood test reveal?

During the blood test conducted after the arrest, Berry was found to have a high concentration of cocaine and traces of GHB, commonly referred to as the date rape drug.

She claimed to be unaware of consuming these substances, which her partner provided. At the court hearing on 7th March in Margate, the judge described the case as one of the most unfortunate he had encountered.

What were the consequences for Berry?

Berry pleaded guilty and expressed regret. The court sentenced her to one year in prison, suspended her sentence, and imposed a two-and-a-half-year driving ban. Additionally, she is required to complete 100 hours of community service and pay the costs of the trial.

What are Berry's future plans?

During the hearing, Berry admitted being naive and unaware of the situation. Her defence attorney highlighted her significant progress.
