Musk's government exit: DOGE legacy and a farewell bruise
Billionaire Elon Musk has concluded his role in Donald Trump's administration. On Thursday, he appeared in the Oval Office for a farewell press conference with President Donald Trump. A bruise under his right eye did not escape the sharp eyes of reporters, compelling Musk to explain what had happened.
On Wednesday, in a post on his social media platform X, Musk announced the end of his work in government administration.
"As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending. The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government" Musk stated.
Musk served as one of President Donald Trump's main advisors and head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE). Initially, he aimed to reduce government spending by 1.7 trillion Euro , but ultimately he managed to cut this figure down to 110 billion (130 billion Euro). He encountered significant resistance from other members of Trump's administration, who opposed his reforms.
The eccentric billionaire appeared on Thursday in the Oval Office at a press conference attended by Donald Trump, who was full of praise for him. Trump also presented him with a golden key to the White House in a decorative box, in recognition of his contributions.
"Hit me in the face"
Reporters at the meeting couldn't help but notice a particular detail in Musk's appearance, which he tried to hide under the brim of a cap. It was a bruise under his right eye.
When asked by reporters what had happened, he tried to brush off the matter with a joke. "Well, I wasn't near France," he assured, referring to a well-known video with the French presidential couple. He ultimately admitted that he got hit in the face by his son.
I was just fooling around with little (son) X. And I said: "Come on, hit me in the face." And he did it - related Elon Musk.
