"Gentlemen" is an eight-episode series that immerses viewers in the dark world of British crime, blending action, humour, and unexpected twists. The main role is played by Bobby Glass (Ray Winstone), a go-getter from the East End who built an industrial marijuana empire. After his death, the fortune is taken over by Edward Horniman (Theo James), who faces the task of managing the "green" kingdom. The action takes place in London. The production is, of course, inspired by Guy Ritchie’s fantastic 2019 film of the same title, and the director was involved in working on the series.
Guy Ritchie's film "Gentlemen"
"Gentlemen", starring Matthew McConaughey, Hugh Grant, and Colin Farrell, was one of the bigger cinematic surprises of 2019. This highly successful blend of comedy and action reminded many viewers how skilful a director Guy Ritchie can be when he’s not focused on unnecessary projects like "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." or "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword." The film was well-received by critics and grossed €104 million on a budget of €19 million.
Success and second season of Netflix's "Gentlemen"
Guy Ritchie is primarily the series producer, but he also wrote the pilot’s script and directed the first two of the eight episodes. The series was a huge success, quickly topping the platform’s charts and holding the top spots for a long time. According to Nielsen, the viewership is over a billion minutes!
It’s no surprise that the only right decision was made: there will be a second season. When production begins, more details about the cast and plot will be revealed next year.
