Palestinians resist Trump's call to vacate Gaza home

The Palestinian Ambassador to the UN, Riyad Mansour, is calling on world leaders to respect the wishes of Palestinians who desire to remain in the Gaza Strip. He was responding to Donald Trump's statement, made after a meeting with the Israeli Prime Minister, that Palestinians should leave the Gaza Strip and that the United States intends to take control of the area and rebuild it.

The Palestinian Ambassador to the UN, Riyad Mansour, urged world leaders to respect the desires of Palestinians who "love" living in the Gaza Strip.

His statement was a reaction to the words of the US president, Donald Trump, who suggested that Palestinians should be permanently relocated.

Mansour emphasised that "Our homeland is our homeland, if part of it is destroyed, the Gaza Strip, the Palestinian people selected the choice to return to it. And I think that leaders and people should respect the wishes of the Palestinian people".

"This is our home"

- Our country and our home is" the Gaza Strip, "it’s part of Palestine. We have no home - Mansour noted. - For those who want to send them to a happy, nice place, let them go back to their original homes inside Israel, there are nice places there, and they will be happy to return to these places - he added, stressing that they desire to rebuild and live in the place they consider their own.

Donald Trump, before talks with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, stated that Palestinians "would very much like" to leave the Gaza Strip if they had the opportunity. He suggested that Jordan, Egypt, and other countries could accept them.

After the meeting with Netanyahu, Trump declared that the USA could take control of the Gaza Strip and did not rule out sending soldiers there.
