As soon as delicious, ripe plums appear, it's time to stock up the home pantry with a few jars of exceptionally tasty plum conserve. It's so delicious that it's hard to resist eating it straight from the jar. Though, in principle, you don't really need to limit yourself because it's a healthier alternative to creams and spreads.

When the sweet aroma of stewed plums with a hint of chocolate fills the house, it's a sign that delicious preserves are being made in the pot. Plum-Choco is a treat loved by generations, as everyone, regardless of age, can be caught eating it straight from the jar with a spoon. It's the perfect remedy for autumn blues and long winter evenings. It's time to head to the market for plums and prepare delicious supplies.

Plum-Choco can be added to pancakes, fritters, or cakes, spread on biscuits, added to oatmeal, or simply eaten straight from the jar. It's better to prepare a larger supply for the winter because it disappears in the blink of an eye.

Ingredients:

  • Three kilogrammes European plums (pitted)
  • 300 millilitres sugar
  • one vanilla bean
  • 100 grammes cocoa powder
  • 100 grammes dark or semi-sweet chocolate

Preparation Method:

  1. Wash the plums thoroughly and remove the pits.
  2. Grind the plums using a meat grinder to make a smooth mixture. You can optionally also blend them.
  3. Transfer the ground plums to a large pot and add the sugar. Add the seeds from the hollowed-out vanilla bean as well. This last addition can be omitted.
  4. Cook on low heat, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens and reaches the desired consistency. If necessary, add more sugar.
  5. Add the sifted cocoa powder and the chocolate broken into pieces. Continue cooking, stirring until the chocolate melts.
  6. Transfer the hot Plum-Choco to sterilized jars and seal tightly with sterilized lids.
  7. Turn the jars upside down and let them cool.

Store the plum preserves with cocoa and chocolate in a dry and cool place. Enjoy!
