The head of the European Commission congratulated Karol Nawrocki. Supported by the Law and Justice party, the candidate received 50.89% of the votes, defeating Rafał Trzaskowski, who was backed by 49.11% of the voters.

"I’m confident that the EU will continue its very good cooperation with Poland. We are all stronger together in our community of peace, democracy, and values. So let us work to ensure the security and prosperity of our common home," Ursula von der Leyen commented on the election results.

World media write about the "nationalist"

Media from around the world highlight that a conservative and nationalist candidate has won. The German newspaper "Berliner Zeitung" referred to it as an "election thriller".

Bloomberg assesses that Sunday's presidential elections were, in effect, a referendum on the future of Poland – the country's role in Europe, women's rights, national identity, and the level of support for Ukraine.
