Poland strengthens military with €3.8bn US loan for modernization
Poland has secured another loan from the United States, amounting to several billion dollars, for the modernisation of the Polish Armed Forces, announced Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, on Platform X. "This is further proof of enormous trust," emphasised the head of the Ministry of National Defence.
Poland has received another loan from the United States amounting to €3.8 billion, intended to accelerate the transformation of the Polish Armed Forces. This information was shared by the head of the Ministry of National Defence, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, highlighting that in total, the USA has provided Poland with over €10 billion. This funding is designated for the purchase of modern defence systems, such as the Patriot and Apache helicopters.
The Minister of National Defence noted that the loan was granted under the Foreign Military Financing (FMF) programme, which supports rapid modernisation financing, including for the Polish army.
"This is further proof of enormous trust and a strong alliance between Poland and the USA," emphasised the Deputy Prime Minister in the post and added that cooperation with the United States is crucial for the country's security.
Record-breaking expenditures on the Polish army
In August, the Council of Ministers adopted the state budget project for the year 2025. The state's budget revenues are expected to amount to approximately €138 billion, the spending limit has been set at approximately €202 billion, and the budget deficit is not to exceed approximately €63 billion.
A record sum - over €40.5 billion - is to be allocated to defence this year. This is about 4.7% of Poland's estimated GDP for next year.
Meanwhile, Poles agree to increase military development expenditures: as many as 72.9% are in favour, only 18.2% are against, and 9% have no opinion, according to the results of a survey published on Friday by IBRiS for "Rzeczpospolita".
