Pope's hospital reflections unite faith and resilience
The Vatican released on Sunday the text of reflections for the Angelus prayer. Pope Francis wrote them while staying in the hospital. "I am sharing these thoughts with you while I am facing a period of trial, and I join with so many brothers and sisters who are sick," the Pope emphasised.
Francis, who has been at the Gemelli Polyclinic for over a month, also expressed gratitude for the prayers and care he is receiving in the hospital.
"I am facing a period of trial, and I join so many sick brothers and sisters: fragile, at this moment, like me. Our body is weak but, even so, nothing can prevent us from loving, from praying, from giving ourselves, from being for one another, in faith, luminous signs of hope," the Pope wrote.
"How much loving attention illuminates the rooms, the corridors, the clinics, the places where the humblest services are carried out. Therefore I would like to invite you, today, to give with me praise to the Lord, who never abandons us and who in moments of pain places beside us people who reflect a ray of his love," Francis added.

On Saturday, the Vatican press office reported further improvement in the Pope's condition, noting that hospital treatment is still necessary. "The clinical conditions of the Holy Father remained stable, confirming the progress highlighted in the last week," it was reported.
The Pope has been in the hospital since 14 February. Since then, Francis has not appeared in public even once. Only once was a short recording broadcast of his thanks for prayers on his behalf.
