Snails in the garden can be quite bothersome and cause considerable damage. Unfortunately, dealing with them can be challenging. However, there are ways to address the problem.

Many garden owners have a persistent issue with snails. The worst offenders are slugs (Limacidae), which lack a shell. They appear in our gardens just after winter ends and stay until autumn.

These snails can cause significant damage, destroying fruits, vegetables, and shrubs. They gnaw on plants' shoots, tubers, and leaves, resulting in their gradual demise. How can we get rid of them? There are proven methods.

Many people use table salt, which is an effective method but can damage crops. Salt in large quantities can cause sodium buildup, which weakens plants' ability to absorb nutrients and water, inhibits flowering, and increases the risk of disease.

So, how can you effectively and safely deal with the problem? Well, basalt flour works excellently here. It is powdered basalt rock rich in valuable microelements, used as a fertilizer, and combats aphids and ants.

Its action is to coat the pests, making it difficult for them to move and breathe. Additionally, the copper content effectively repels snails, similar to copper tape.

Cinnamon is also excellent for fighting snails, as molluscs cannot stand its smell. Therefore, when we sprinkle the spice around plants, there is a good chance they will find another place to graze.

Eggshells and garlic also work well in the fight against snails.
