Putin and Trump's envoy meet for crucial talks on Ukraine conflict
Russian President Vladimir Putin commenced a meeting with Donald Trump's special envoy, Steve Witkoff, as reported by the Kremlin's press office. According to the TASS agency, the discussion is anticipated to focus on "the normalization of ties between Moscow and Washington and some aspects of the Ukrainian settlement."
Witkoff's negotiations with Putin are part of the Trump administration's attempts to secure a 30-day ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. This marks the third meeting between Witkoff and Putin, reported the Axios portal earlier, providing insights into Trump's envoy visit to Russia.
This time, Witkoff travelled to Saint Petersburg. There, he also engaged in talks with Putin.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, when inquired about the potential duration of the meeting, responded that the discussions might last "an hour, two, three, even four if necessary." — As long as President Putin needs — he stated.
— The painstaking work continues. Naturally, Witkoff, as a special representative of President Trump, will bring something from his president to Putin, — said Peskov. He indicated that the conversation would address "various aspects of the Ukrainian settlement." The Kremlin spokesman evaluated that there are numerous dimensions to this, and its nature is highly intricate.
