Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his concerns on Friday regarding Vladimir Putin's actions in the ongoing conflict with Ukraine. Zelensky emphasised that the Russian leader cannot retreat from the conflict, leading to the obstruction of any attempts to reach a peace agreement.

Putin blocks diplomacy

In a post on the X platform, Zelensky emphasized that Putin imposes highly demanding and unreasonable conditions even at the outset of ceasefire discussions. He asserted that Putin is unable to withdraw from the war without losing everything, which is why he is actively obstructing diplomatic efforts by introducing excessively difficult and unacceptable terms from the very beginning, even before a ceasefire is established.

In reaction to proposed ceasefire agreements, the Ukrainian President cautions that Putin seeks to entangle the international community in prolonged and fruitless negotiations, similar to the Minsk agreements regarding Donbas.

He stressed that every condition set by Putin is merely a tactic to obstruct diplomatic efforts, describing it as a standard approach by Russia—one that Ukraine has repeatedly warned about.
