Emma Raducanu amazed the world in September 2021. At just 18 years old, the Briton astounded everyone by dominating the Grand Slam courts at the US Open. Her triumph came as a significant surprise. She began the tournament at Flushing Meadows, ranked 150th in the world, successfully navigated the qualifying rounds, and remained unbeaten throughout the main draw. Remarkably, she did not drop a single set before winning the title.
Success at the US Open courts elevated Raducanu to 23rd place in the WTA rankings. The Grand Slam victory marked a new chapter in her career, bringing her immense recognition and lucrative sponsorship deals with major global brands. In 2021, she signed collaborations with Dior and Tiffany & Co.
In the following year, Porsche, one of the most prestigious car manufacturers, expressed a desire to collaborate with the British tennis player.
As part of this contract, Raducanu received a luxury 911 Carrera GTS Cabriolet valued at £125,000 (€150,000). It was a dream come true for the athlete, who has been a brand fan since childhood. However, Raducanu has since had to part with her beloved car.
Emma no longer has a Porsche. They took it back. It used to have pride of place at her home, said one of the tennis player’s associates in a conversation with the "Daily Mail".
She lost Porsche, chose a Dacia Sandero
After losing the Porsche, Emma switched to... a used Dacia Sandero, which she bought four years ago for £5,000 (€6,000).
As she shared in an interview with "The Sun", the Sandero holds great significance for her because her father's first car, a Romanian, was also a Dacia. Raducanu added that she passed her driving test just before the lockdown and quickly bought the car to have something to use during the pandemic.
I take care of her. I’m never going to get rid of it, assured the tennis player.
