Rictor Skyrider X1 unveiled: The future of urban flight

The Rictor Skyrider X1 is a vehicle truly deserving of the title of a futuristic technological marvel. Featured at CES 2025, this motorcycle, capable of hovering in the air, represents a remarkable breakthrough in mobility.

Information about innovative vehicles that merge features of different machines frequently appears on the internet. Standard motorcycles excel in navigating city traffic, allowing riders to easily weave between cars. In contrast, a helicopter enables one to bypass traffic jams entirely.

The Rictor Skyrider X1 is indeed a futuristic combination of a motorcycle and a helicopter, just as its name implies.

Rictor Skyrider X1 – Next-generation flying motorcycle

Debuting at CES 2025 in Las Vegas, the Rictor Skyrider X1 marks the next step in urban transport development. When a motorcyclist runs out of road space, its hybrid propulsion system enables a skyward ascent.

Classified as an eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft), the Rictor Skyrider X1 boasts an innovative 4-axis system with 8 rotors, ensuring exceptional stability during flight, perfect for precise tasks.

The Skyrider X1 is distinguished by a lightweight frame made from carbon fibre composites and aircraft-grade aluminium, providing durability and excellent performance in demanding conditions. This device reaches an impressive top speed of 100 km/h and supports continuous flight for up to 40 minutes. The flight duration, however, varies depending on the version:

  • X1 SL with a 10.5 kWh battery allows for a flight of 25 minutes,
  • X1 SX with a 21 kWh battery offers a flight of up to 40 minutes.

Ease of use, but also safety

The creators have prioritised ease of use. The driver can utilise automatic takeoff and landing features, and the vehicle autonomously plans the route, considering battery level and current position. Flight parameters, including wind strength, are continuously adjusted to accommodate prevailing weather conditions.

In the event of engine failure, the Rictor Skyrider X1 is equipped with safety technologies, enabling a secure landing and a rescue parachute. Additionally, redundant flight control systems ensure safe operation even if an engine fails.

When can you buy the Rictor Skyrider X1?

The motorcycle is scheduled for release in 2026, costing around £47,000. Although it's a significant amount, the vehicle is considered a luxury gadget. Similar prototypes that never made it to market have been seen before due to certification challenges.
