Ronaldo's record-breaking night

Cristiano Ronaldo, as the captain of the Portugal national team, led his team to the semi-finals of the UEFA Nations League. The return match against Denmark in Lisbon was exceptional for him for three reasons. He will remember it for the rest of his life.

The Portugal national team approached the return match in the UEFA Nations League in less than perfect spirits. The Portuguese had lost 0-1 in the first match after a goal by Rasmus Hojlund, who replicated Cristiano Ronaldo's traditional celebration after scoring.

The day before the rematch, during a press conference, the captain of the Portugal national team said, "But I hope tomorrow he can see my celebration." And that’s exactly what happened, although the beginning wasn't easy. In just the 6th minute, CR7 missed a penalty, but his team ultimately triumphed 5-2, with him scoring one of the goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo will remember the match against Denmark forever

The Portuguese won't just remember the victory after this match day. Before the game, Cristiano Ronaldo was honoured with a certificate for breaking the Guinness World Record for the most victories with a national team in history. The certificate displays the number "132", but after yesterday's triumph, the count rose to 133.

Another noteworthy fact for Cristiano Ronaldo is that the victory over Denmark made him the player with 840 wins in his entire career. No other player has achieved as many victories.

The third reason why this match was exceptional for the captain of the Portugal national team is that he scored his 929th career goal. Moreover, he currently leads the scoring standings of the current UEFA Nations League edition with six goals and one assist. In the tournament's semi-finals, Portugal will face Germany, and in the other match, Spain will play against France.
