Russia declares: Ready to help with US‑Iran nuclear talks
"Russia exerts active efforts on assisting in seeking a resolution between Washington and Tehran," said Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov in an interview with Tass. "We are keeping up our efforts aimed at assisting in the energetic search for the necessary negotiation solutions," he added.
"We think that they [the solutions - ed.] are quite possible with due reliance on international law, the principle of equitable and indivisible security, as well as with the carefully calibrated balance of interests and gradual progress which will allow to boost trust by observing the agreements achieved," added Ryabkov in an interview with Tass.
He also added that Russia expresses hope that US and Iran will "fully realise this." The statement corresponds with Thursday's information conveyed by Kremlin and President Trump, that Russian President Putin is ready to intervene with US-Iran negotiations concerning the Iran's nuclear program.
According to the President Trump's statement, both him and President Putin "were in agreement" that "Iran cannot have nuclear weapon." He also added in his Truth Social post that "President Putin suggested that he will participate in the discussions with Iran and that he could, perhaps, be helpful in getting this brought to a rapid conclusion."
Kremlin comments
"We have close partner relations with Tehran and, naturally, President Putin said that we are ready to use this level of partnership with Tehran in order to facilitate and contribute to the negotiations that are taking place to resolve the issue of the Iranian nuclear dossier," told reporters Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesperson.
"The president will be able to get involved when necessary," answered Peskov when asked if President Putin could join the negotiations between the US and Iran, adding that the dialogue with both of the countries is "continued through various channels."
