Russia rejects ceasefire as Trump pushes for dialogue

The programme host also expressed delight at Donald Trump's assurances that he sees no need to exert pressure or impose additional sanctions on Russia.

Dimitry Abzalow, director of the Strategic Communications Center, who was present in the studio, suggested that Trump is attempting to cover up economic issues in the United States in this way. - For him, it's very important to show some sort of victory, he stated.

Russia-USA talks

On Wednesday, Donald Trump announced that a group of U.S. representatives was going to Moscow. He expressed hope for securing a ceasefire, stating from the Oval Office that the outcome now depended entirely on Russia.

Maria Zakharova, the spokesperson for the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, responded to the American president's remarks. "We do not rule out contacts with US representatives in the next few days", she emphasised.

On Wednesday, the White House also announced that Mike Waltz, the special security advisor, spoke with his Russian counterpart on the phone.

US contacts with Russia directly result from the USA-Ukraine meeting on Tuesday in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
