Russian drone barrage leaves trail of destruction in Kharkiv
The Russian army carried out a massive attack on Kharkiv on Friday night. The Russians struck civilian facilities, including a hospital. As a result of the attack, residential buildings and urban infrastructure were damaged.
Russian armed forces launched a massive attack on Kharkiv late in the evening of 28th February, striking several districts of the city. According to information provided by the mayor of Kharkiv, Ihor Terekhov, and the head of the regional administration, Oleh Syniehubov, the attacks affected the Kyiv, Shevchenkivskyi, and Holodnohirskyi districts.
Terekhov reported that one of the attacks took place opposite a residential block, where window panes were shattered.
In the central part of the city, a drone hit the grounds of a medical facility where people were present. A fire broke out after the impact, and 50 people were evacuated.
At around 10:50 PM Greenwich Time, another drone attack occurred in the central part of Kharkiv, damaging residential buildings and infrastructure in the Kyiv district near a petrol station.
Syniehubov reported that the Russian army launched at least eight drones at the city - all targeted at civilian infrastructure. As a result of the attacks, many buildings were damaged, and fires broke out in several locations, affecting buildings and cars.
Data from the Regional Medical Rescue Centre indicates that one child was injured by glass shards.
Nine drones fell on Kharkiv
Later, the head of the regional administration added that as a result of one of the "Shahed" drone strikes in the central part of the city, windows were damaged in a residential building as well as in a car showroom and a hypermarket.
Terekhov, around 12 AM Greenwich Time, reported that on the night from 28th February to 1st March, the city was attacked by nine "Shahed" drones. Initially, five people were reported injured, but the number of casualties rose to seven.
