Russian drone strikes claim lives in Kyiv amid peace talks

In another night attack on Ukraine, Russia used 147 drones. Of these, 97 were successfully shot down, according to Ukraine's air force. Unfortunately, debris from the drones is falling on homes and streets, causing fatalities and damage. Last night in Kyiv, three people died, including a five-year-old child, and 10 people were injured.

Russian unmanned aerial vehicles attacked six districts of Kyiv overnight. In these parts of the city, debris from the shot-down machines also fell. Photos on social media show the extent of the destruction caused by the falling drone fragments.

"At present, we know that three people have died. Among the deceased are a father and his little five-year-old daughter. Another 10 people were injured. The youngest injured is just 11 months old. We extend our condolences to the families and friends of the victims and wish the injured a speedy recovery," reads a statement from the authorities in the Ukrainian capital, published on Telegram.

As noted by the Reuters agency, the United States is advocating for a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia, hoping to negotiate a partial ceasefire that would halt attacks on infrastructure, especially energy facilities.

Further rounds of US-Ukrainian and US-Russian negotiations dedicated to this issue are set to take place in Saudi Arabia on Sunday and Monday.

Meanwhile, despite ongoing peace talks, Russia continues to carry out massive attacks on civilian targets in Ukraine, targeting not only energy infrastructure but also residential areas.
