Russian strike on Kherson: Air and ground assault leaves casualties

Russian planes bombed the centre of Kherson, killing one person and injuring several others, reported Roman Mrochko, the head of the city's military authorities, on Wednesday. The Russians also fired upon rescuers and other services that arrived at the scene of the attack.

"Around 6:30 AM, enemy planes attacked the central district in Kherson. Infrastructure and high-rise buildings were targeted. There is one dead and injured," wrote Roman Mrochko on Telegram.

After the air raid, when rescuers and other services arrived at the scene, Russian forces opened artillery fire. Mrochko noted that as soon as the situation allows, "the aftermath of another attack by Russian terrorists on the civilian population of Kherson will begin to be addressed."

Kherson is located on the western bank of the Dnieper River. On the other side of the river are Russian troops.

Ukrainian air defence shot down Russian drones

The Ukrainian Air Force announced that air defence shot down 57 out of 97 Russian drones last night, attacking from the east, north, centre, and south of the country. Additionally, 34 Russian drones were disabled thanks to electronic warfare measures.

The Russian attack affected the Sumy, Odessa, Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, and Poltava regions.
