The ballistic missile was allegedly launched from Russia's Astrakhan region, located by the Caspian Sea. The Ukrainian army's statement does not specify which type of intercontinental missile was used in the attack, so the truth of the Ukrainian army's claims cannot be verified at this moment.
The Ukrainian side has also not disclosed what type of ballistic missile was launched from Russia and whether it hit the target.
Additionally, the Russian army launched a Kh-47M2 "Kinzhal" missile towards Dnipro and seven Kh-101 cruise missiles. Six of these were shot down.
The missiles initially headed towards Kyiv, then changed course for Poltava, before making another manoeuvre to strike the Dnipropetrovsk region.
"From the early morning hours, the aggressor massively attacked the (Dnipropetrovsk) region. The aftermath is being determined. Currently, it is known that an industrial enterprise in Dnipro was damaged. There were also two fires in the city," reported Serhiy Lysak, the head of the regional military authorities, on Telegram.
