It's important to change your bed linen regularly. However, many people forget to wash the pillows themselves. They are a real breeding ground for bacteria. There is a simple way to do this quickly and effectively.

Washing pillows can be quite a tedious and labour-intensive task for many people. After all, we can't always throw them in the washing machine. Sometimes, we have to do it by hand, which gives us a headache when thinking about it. Fortunately, a much simpler and more effective way to keep them clean exists.

Why do we rarely wash our pillows?

Many of us can't imagine sleeping without a comfortable pillow, one of the most used items in the home. Our heads rest on it every night for many hours. Despite frequently changing pillowcases, we rarely decide to wash the pillow itself.

Not everyone knows that pillows are true havens for bacteria. They can contain remnants of cosmetics and sebum produced during sleep. If we don’t wash them often enough, it can lead to health issues such as allergies or skin diseases.

An effective way to clean pillows

The pillows we sleep with are rarely washed, which can lead to skin problems. Luckily, there is a cleaning method that does not require water and can be done frequently. All you need is bicarbonate of soda. First, sprinkle the pillow with bicarbonate of soda, rub it in with a sponge, and shake everything off after 30 minutes. Bicarbonate of soda absorbs many bacteria and whitens the material, which is especially effective for feather-filled pillows.

Airing out bed linen is a proven way to eliminate dust mites. This should be a daily ritual whenever the weather allows, especially in homes with allergy sufferers. Pillowcases, on the other hand, should be washed at least once a week, preferably at 60 degrees Celsius. Only in this way can we get rid of bacteria.
