Sandwiches with butter and radishes are delicious. However, there are times when we need to limit the amount of fat, or simply wish to change up our breakfast and consume more plant-based products. That's when a spread made with sunflower seeds works brilliantly.

What do sunflower seeds contain?

Sunflower seeds are often found in our kitchens. They make a great addition to smoothies, yoghurt, or salads. Recently, sunflower seed cake, where these seeds take centre stage, has become very popular. These seeds are packed with nutritional value, being rich in vitamin E, which acts as a powerful antioxidant, protecting cells from damage. They also contain healthy fats, including unsaturated fatty acids that support heart and brain health. Additionally, sunflower seeds provide protein, fibre, and minerals such as magnesium, selenium, and copper.

Why is it worth eating sunflower seeds?

It's beneficial to consume sunflower seeds regularly, as they can contribute to strengthening the immune and cardiovascular systems, whilst also having a positive effect on skin appearance. Thanks to their high fibre content, these seeds help maintain proper blood sugar levels and support digestion. They are also an excellent source of B vitamins, including folic acid, which is vital for the nervous system.
