Taiwan bolsters Ukraine with tech aid and 5G development
Ukraine will receive technological support from Taiwan. The authorities have decided to deliver laptops and electric generators to residents of certain cities in occupied Ukraine.

On Friday, in Warsaw, Taiwan's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lin Chia-lung, handed over more than 2,600 laptops and several power generators to the Mayor of Uzhhorod, Bohdan Andrijiv. This support is particularly crucial for students and pupils who, during the war, lack access to modern technologies that aid learning. Lin Chia-lung emphasised that education is the foundation of a strong nation, with each laptop bearing a sticker stating "Taiwan stands up for freedom."
The Mayor of Uzhhorod noted that the generators are vital in light of power outages caused by Russian shelling. The laptops provided are expected to assist the youth in their development and in reaching significant goals.
Taiwan supports Ukraine's technological development
On the same day, the Mayor of Bucha, Anatoliy Fedoruk, signed a letter of intent with the Taiwanese company Chunghwa Telecom for the construction of a 5G network. Lin Chia-lung expressed concerns about the dominance of Chinese technology in Europe, which, in his view, negatively impacts cybersecurity. He noted that Taiwan is ready to help Ukraine develop its 5G infrastructure and technology related to artificial intelligence use.
Fedoruk pointed out that with Taipei's support, Bucha will become the first city in Ukraine with access to a 5G network. According to Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from 2022 to 2024, Taiwan has provided Ukraine with aid valued at over €145 million, financing the reconstruction of schools, hospitals, and churches, as well as the construction of an air defence system. The Taiwanese are also conducting training for Ukrainian medical personnel.
