Continuing "Squid Game" became a business necessity, but materialising took a long time. Everyone wondered what the second season could reveal: Another game with the same rules? Netflix shared the first teaser of the second season of the Korean production. It's not a full-fledged trailer yet but merely a taste of it, so Netflix doesn't reveal much. However, what has been speculated for months is confirmed - the return of Gi-hun, who will play the bloody game once again. This will happen on 25th December.
As Netflix describes it: "Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 gave up going to the States and comes back with a new resolution in his mind. Gi-hun once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death game with new participants gathered to win the prize of 45.6 billion won (approx €33.7 million)."
The first season of "Squid Game" premiered on 17th September 2021 and immediately attracted the attention of millions of users from around the world. Nothing like this had been seen on television and streaming before. The brutal game trended in 94 countries worldwide, attracting a total of 142 million internet users who spent 1.65 billion hours watching "Squid Game" in the first four weeks after its premiere. The series became a brand worth 805 million euros (approx).
