Toronto tragedy: Tesla crash leaves four dead, one saved

A group of friends tragically died in a fire after becoming trapped inside a Tesla vehicle when it collided with a bridge barrier in Toronto. The car doors locked upon impact, preventing the passengers from escaping. Fortunately, one person survived, with the help of a bystander who managed to rescue her from the dangerous situation.

The distressing incident, reminiscent of a horror film, occurred on a bridge in Toronto when a group of friends driving a Tesla unexpectedly encountered an accident and struck the barrier.

Following the collision, the car began to fill with smoke, and the Tesla's doors locked, making it impossible to escape. One passenger was rescued by Rick Harper, a Canadian postal worker, who broke the car windows to free the woman from the smoke and flames.

I would assume the young lady would have tried to open the door from the inside, because she was pretty desperate to get out. I don't know if that was the battery or what. But she couldn't get out - the man explained to local media.

He mentioned that he couldn't see the other victims in the vehicle due to the dense smoke.

Fire safety experts suggested that a battery failure caused the door malfunction post-impact. Calgary Fire Captain Randy Schmitz explained that electric car doors require power to function.

Certainly the intensity of the fire is directly linked to the battery cells in the Tesla - said Jim Jessop, Deputy Fire Chief.

In the accident, four friends lost their lives: 25-year-old Neelraj Gohil, his sister Ketaba Gohil, aged 29, Jay Sisodiya, and Digvijay Patel all perished in Toronto.
