Trump administration plans to revoke Ukrainian migrants' status
The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump plans to revoke the temporary legal status of approximately 240,000 Ukrainians who fled the conflict with Russia, according to a senior White House official and sources familiar with the matter.
As reported by Reuters, this move is expected as early as April. It would represent a significant reversal of the welcome extended to Ukrainians under President Joe Biden's administration, comments Reuters.
It is noted that this plan was conceived even before Trump publicly clashed with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky in Washington. It is part of broader actions by the Trump administration aimed at stripping more than 1.8 million migrants of legal status.
U.S. suspends aid to Ukraine
It is important to remember that the United States stopped sharing intelligence data with Ukraine. As noted by the American Institute for the Study of War, this is one of many demands made by the Kremlin to the U.S., Ukraine, and their allies.
On the night from Monday to Tuesday, the U.S. suspended military aid to Ukraine. U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz stated on Wednesday, that Trump would consider reinstating this support if peace talks occur and efforts are made to restore trust in U.S.-Ukrainian relations.
