Newark Mayor Ras Baraka expressed outrage, stating that "one of the detainees is a U.S. military veteran, who suffered the indignity of having the legitimacy of his military documentation questioned."
Baraka stated that the raid violated the civil rights guaranteed by the Constitution of the United States and emphasised that "Newark will not stand by idly while people are being unlawfully terrorised."
