Trump made his announcement in the Oval Office in the presence of the head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth.

Trump stated that a ceasefire would soon be in place across several regions, emphasizing that the negotiations had been progressing positively despite the situation's complexity.

The President reiterated that enemy forces surround some soldiers and expressed confidence that a complete ceasefire would be achieved "soon."

He reiterated his belief that a complete ceasefire is likely shortly, pointing out that both sides currently have numerous weapons aimed at one another and that, regrettably, some troops are already encircled by opposing forces.

He noted that talks to reach a final agreement are currently in progress. He indicated that a full ceasefire is expected soon, followed by a formal agreement addressing issues such as territorial arrangements. According to him, these matters are actively being negotiated.

Trump informed those in attendance that he had recently spoken with Vladimir Putin and President Volodymyr Zelensky. He mentioned that, following these discussions, the framework for an agreement is already taking shape, though he refrained from sharing specific details.

Will there be a breakthrough? Trump spoke on Ukraine

In a White House statement following Tuesday’s conversation between Trump and Putin, it was noted that the leaders agreed on a 30-day ceasefire concerning attacks on infrastructure and energy installations.

The communiqué states that the politicians discussed the ceasefire and peace in Ukraine. Both leaders agreed that this conflict needed to end with lasting peace. They also stressed the need for improved bilateral relations between the United States and Russia.

The statement expresses that the conflict was entirely avoidable and should have been resolved much earlier through genuine and honest attempts at peace.

It was noted that Trump and Putin shared the view that steps toward peace should start with a ceasefire focused on energy and infrastructure. They also discussed technical issues aimed at establishing a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea, progressing toward a full ceasefire and long-term peace.
