Trump and Putin seek to end Ukraine conflict with talks

White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt confirmed that Donald Trump is committed to ending the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. According to the U.S. President, Vladimir Putin shares this objective. Leavitt mentioned that Trump's optimism arises from a "productive conversation" that occurred between Steve Witkoff and the Russian leader.

Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the Russians have communicated preliminary conditions for concluding the war with Ukraine. However, she refrained from specifying what those conditions are. The White House spokeswoman indicated that the motivation for the Russians would be the "economic partnership" between Russia and the USA.

Leavitt stated that Donald Trump is satisfied with the discussions between Vladimir Putin and his envoy, Steve Witkoff. The President's administration believes that the consultations in St. Petersburg were a "productive conversation."

There is an incentive for Russia to end this war and perhaps that could be economic partnerships with the United States. But we need to see a ceasefire first and the president and the presidential envoy, Witkoff, made that very clear to the Russians, Karoline Leavitt told the gathered journalists during a brief briefing.

The condition for ending the conflict is a ceasefire. "He made this clear"

The White House spokeswoman conveyed that Steve Witkoff clearly emphasised that the first step to ending the war is a ceasefire. The Russians were also given a specific deadline by which the conflict between Russia and Ukraine should be resolved.

Karoline Leavitt also reported that Donald Trump is unaware of any invitation from Volodymyr Zelensky. The Ukrainian President extended an invitation to Trump through an interview on CBS News.

Please, before making any decisions or plans for negotiations, come to see the people, civilians, warriors, hospitals, churches, children destroyed or dead, said the Ukrainian politician.
