Trump clashes with Kremlin over Putin's actions in Ukraine
The Kremlin has responded to a series of anxious remarks made by Donald Trump regarding Russia and Vladimir Putin. The dictator's adviser, Yuri Ushakov, stated that Trump is inadequately informed about the events in the context of the confrontation between Russia and Ukraine.
Vladimir Putin has absolutely lost his mind, and if he wants all of Ukraine, it will lead to Russia's downfall, Donald Trump announced on Sunday. The former US president simultaneously criticised statements made by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, claiming that everything he says "causes problems".
Putin "has completely lost his mind"
Trump emphasised that he "always had good relations with Putin", but, as he stated, "something happened" with the Russian leader. "He's completely lost his mind!" He's unnecessarily killing a lot of people, and I'm not just talking about soldiers. Missiles and drones are being launched into cities in Ukraine without any reason" wrote the former US president.
When asked about these comments, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov described them as an expression of "emotional overload at a crucial moment".
On Tuesday, Trump once again took aim at Putin, warning in a social media post that the Russian leader was taking a dangerous risk. He asserted that Putin fails to understand the extent to which Trump’s past actions may have prevented serious negative consequences for Russia.
Putin's adviser on unfavourable comments
On Wednesday, it was not the Kremlin spokesman but Putin's adviser himself who responded to Trump's statements.
Yuri Ushakov stated that Donald Trump is inadequately informed about the events related to the confrontation between Russia and Ukraine.
In his opinion, Trump does not receive comprehensive information about the alleged massive terrorist attacks that Ukraine conducts on Russian civilian cities.
At the same time, as Ushakov emphasised, Trump does not fully understand that Russia only targets military infrastructure or Ukraine's defence industry facilities.
