Trump declares victory days: New holidays to honor world wars
Donald Trump announced that Americans will celebrate two victory days in honour of the two world wars that were won. The US President issued a decree recognising 8 May as "World War II Victory Day" and 11 November as "World War I Victory Day."
The American president announced on social media that Americans will celebrate two new holidays. These involve the celebration of the end of the First and Second World Wars. Donald Trump has already signed the relevant decree regarding this matter.
The holiday described as "World War II Victory Day" will fall on 8 May, which is the anniversary of the signing of the unconditional surrender of Nazi Germany in 1945. The end of the Second World War is celebrated the next day in Russia due to differences in time zones.
The second holiday established by Donald Trump is "World War I Victory Day". Americans will celebrate it on 11 November, in commemoration of the Armistice of Compiègne, which ended the First World War.
"Many of our allies and friends are celebrating May 8th as Victory Day, but we did more than any other Country, by far, in producing a victorious result on World War II. I am hereby renaming May 8th as Victory Day for World War II and November 11th as Victory Day for World War I. We won both Wars, nobody was close to us in terms of strength, bravery, or military brilliance, but we never celebrate anything — That’s because we don’t have leaders anymore, that know how to do so! We are going to start celebrating our victories again!" Donald Trump stated in his social media post.

At the same time, Donald Trump signed a series of other decrees. The American president withdrew funding for public radio and television NPR and PBS. The Trump administration accused both media outlets of "spreading propaganda." The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB), which manages the funds, has already received the appropriate guidelines.
