Trump reacts to Moscow bombing that killed Russian general
US President Donald Trump was caught by surprise with news of the attack that occurred near Moscow. On Friday morning, a bomb planted in a car killed the deputy chief of the Main Operational Directorate of the General Staff of Russia, Gen. Yaroslav Moskalyk. "This is a serious matter. I will look into it," Trump stated.
The Russian Investigative Committee confirmed the death of Gen. Yaroslav Moskalyk, who was killed in an explosion in the Moscow region. The attack occurred on Friday before noon in the town of Balashikha, near Moscow.

The explosion took place on Friday, when Gen. Moskalyk was walking past a Volkswagen parked by a building, in which the explosive device was hidden.
Trump's response to the attack: I will look into it
Donald Trump was questioned about the incident while aboard Air Force One.
Reporter:There was a car bomb in Moscow this morning that killed a Russian general. Do you have any reaction to that?
Trump: Who killed what?
Reporter: A Russian general killed by a car bomb.
Trump: Well, you're just telling me that for the first time. Where did this take
Reporter: In Moscow. It was a Russian general.
Trump: That's quite close, isn't it? That's a big one. I will look into it.
There is a possibility that Trump was already informed about the attack but pretended surprise. His question about whether it happened "close to home" might indicate foreknowledge. The bomb did indeed explode right next to the general's residence.
The attack coincided with a visit by US President Donald Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, who was engaged in pivotal talks with Vladimir Putin during their three-hour conversation at the Kremlin.
