Trump vows decisive response to Houthi attacks linked to Iran
"Every shot fired by the Houthis will be looked upon, from this point forward, as being a shot fired from the weapons and leadership of IRAN, and IRAN will be held responsible, and suffer the consequences, and those consequences will be dire," warned Donald Trump.
The Houthi rebels in Yemen have reported another attack on the American aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman in the Red Sea.
Donald Trump reacted to these attacks. "Let nobody be fooled! The hundreds of attacks being made by Houthi, the sinister mobsters and thugs based in Yemen, who are hated by the Yemeni people, all emanate from, and are created by, IRAN," he wrote.
Trump warns and threatens Iran
"Any further attack or retaliation by the "Houthis" will be met with great force, and there is no guarantee that that force will stop there. Iran has played "the innocent victim" of rogue terrorists from which they’ve lost control, but they haven’t lost control. They’re dictating every move, giving them the weapons, supplying them with money and highly sophisticated Military equipment, and even, so-called, 'Intelligence,'" added Trump.
"Every shot fired by the Houthis will be looked upon, from this point forward, as being a shot fired from the weapons and leadership of IRAN, and IRAN will be held responsible, and suffer the consequences, and those consequences will be dire!" warned the US President in a post on his Truth Social platform.
The Houthis in Yemen attack again, targeting an American aircraft carrier
- For the second time in 24 hours, we attacked the American aircraft carrier USS Harry S. Truman in the northern part of the Red Sea using numerous ballistic and cruise missiles, as well as drones. The fighting lasted several hours, a Houthi spokesperson reported on social media.
In response to the Houthi actions, the United States conducted two airstrikes on the port city of Al Hudaydah in Yemen - reported Al-Masirah television, associated with the Houthis. However, the USA has yet to comment on these reports.
It is worth remembering that since autumn 2023, the Houthis have conducted over 100 attacks on ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, disrupting transport through this crucial maritime route.
Houthis have controlled a significant part of Yemen since 2014
The Houthis (Ansar Allah) are a Shia rebel group from Yemen, mainly operating in the north of the country, particularly in the provinces of Saada, Amran, Al Jawf, and Al Hudaydah.
Since 2014, they have controlled a significant part of Yemen, including the capital Sana'a and key ports on the Red Sea. They operate from the mountainous areas in northern Yemen, where they use the natural cover to shield themselves from attacks.
Houthi ties with Iran
The Houthis are supported by Iran, which provides them with weapons, drone and missile technologies, and military training. Although Iran officially denies providing direct military support, UN and US intelligence reports point to arms deliveries, including ballistic missiles and drones used in attacks on targets in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the Red Sea. This cooperation aligns with Iran's strategy, which involves supporting rebel groups in the region (e.g., Hezbollah in Lebanon, militias in Iraq and Syria) to weaken its rivals, mainly Saudi Arabia and the USA.
The Houthis have adopted an ideology inspired by the Islamic revolution in Iran and have a similar governance model based on spiritual authority. However, despite close ties with Iran, they maintain a degree of independence and also pursue their own interests in Yemen.
