The public confrontation between President Donald Trump and Elon Musk, the wealthiest individual globally, has worried employees of the Government Efficiency Department (DOGE). As noted by "The Wall Street Journal," employees fear their jobs might be jeopardised.

Following the clash between Trump and Musk, DOGE has lost some supporters. James Fishback, one of the department's initial advisors, sided with the President of the United States, criticising the businessman for his conduct. Steve Bannon, a former advisor to Trump, also disparaged the owner of Tesla, claiming that the DOGE initiative had failed.

DOGE asserts that thanks to various actions, expenditures were reduced by $180 billion (€158 billion). However, budget experts question these figures, further complicating the situation. Musk pledged substantial savings by reducing waste and misuse, but his promises are currently under scrutiny.

The clash between Musk and Trump

On Thursday, a public row erupted between Musk and Trump over the budget bill criticised by the billionaire (referred to as "One Big Beautiful Bill" or simply "big bill").

Musk accused Trump of wanting to increase the budget deficit and ensnare Americans in "debt slavery." The President of the United States hit back at his generous campaign donor, suggesting it was the cessation of electric vehicle purchase subsidies that had angered him.

Musk called for Trump's impeachment and accused the president of having his name on "Epstein's list" - a list of individuals exploiting underage girls provided by billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.
