Trump's advisors do not want him to talk to Putin

It remains uncertain whether the talks will actually take place. As Politico reports, Trump's advisors have advised him not to call Putin until the Russian leader agrees to a full ceasefire in Ukraine.

Kyiv agreed to a 30-day ceasefire, provided Russia also complied. However, Moscow refused.

At the end of March, Donald Trump expressed his frustration with Vladimir Putin for not moving towards an agreement. He mentioned that he plans to talk to him soon. The US and Russian leaders last spoke on 18 March.
