During a press conference, President Zelensky stressed that Ukraine is ready to buy at least 10 Patriot systems. He has been discussing this matter with US President Donald Trump, who has stated that the US would work on this issue. Zelensky revealed that Ukraine is prepared to purchase at least 10 Patriot systems and that this minimum figure was discussed during a phone conversation with President Trump. According to him, Trump indicated that the United States would make efforts in that direction. The cost of exporting a Patriot battery can reach up to €2.2 billion, and each missile for this system costs about €8.8 million.

Why does Ukraine need more Patriot systems?

Zelensky has urged Ukraine's allies to supply additional Patriot systems in response to the increasing Russian air attacks. In a video address to the Ukraine Defence Contact Group, President Zelensky underscored Ukraine’s urgent need for additional Patriot air defence systems. Over the past three years, the country has received several such batteries from allies, including the United States, Germany, the Netherlands, and Romania.

The President of Ukraine emphasised that he is also holding separate talks with European countries, as the acquisition of Patriot systems is expensive, noting that negotiations are ongoing.
