Ukrainian drones strike vital Crimea oil terminal amid conflict
During the night from Sunday to Monday, Ukrainian drones attacked a transhipment terminal in Feodosia, located in occupied Crimea. There were powerful explosions. It is the second-largest terminal on the peninsula. Thousands of Russians saw columns of black smoke over the city in the morning.
The General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces claimed responsibility for the attack in the morning.
Attack on occupied Crimea
"Tonight, there was a successful attack on the enemy's oil terminal located in temporarily occupied Feodosia in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea. A fire was reported at the facility," reads the statement.
The staff adds that it is the largest terminal in Crimea for handling petroleum products, which "specifically served the needs of the occupying Russian Federation's army."
The Russian Ministry of Defence claims that 12 drones were shot down over Crimea.
State of emergency after the attack on the terminal
The authorities have declared a local state of emergency in connection with the fire. Streets and roads near the terminal are closed.
The operational command of the occupied peninsula states that no one was killed in the attack. Powerful explosions shook Feodosia at approximately 2:25 AM Greenwich Mean Time.
"Smoke over the burning oil depot rises in three columns, which may indicate three main sources of ignition," writes the "Crimean Wind" channel.
The terminal attacked is located on the eastern end of Feodosia. In March 2024, Ukrainian drones attacked it, damaging the main fuel pumping pipeline. The same terminal was attacked in December and November of last year.
