Ukrainian soldiers praise Western fighting vehicles in conflict
Ukrainian soldiers recently gave an interview discussing the M2A2 Bradley and CV90 infantry fighting vehicles. In their view, this equipment is among the best of its kind globally, demonstrating its effectiveness during the ongoing conflict. It has even managed to impress the Russians.
In media focused on military subjects, a report from the 38th Scientific-Research Institute of Armoured Vehicles of the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation drew attention. After examining a captured M2A2 Bradley in Ukraine, Russian experts acknowledged it was significantly superior to the BMP-3.
M2A2 Bradley vs CV90 - Ukrainians give their verdict
In an interview with the Armia TV channel, Ukrainian military personnel from the 47th Mechanized Brigade discussed the capabilities of the American M2A2 Bradley. Their views were compared with those of soldiers from the 21st Mechanized Brigade, who use the Swedish CV90s.
The M2A2 Bradley's biggest advantages include a very high level of protection, armament such as the M242 Bushmaster automatic cannon, an anti-tank guided missile launcher, and a large troop compartment.
Regarding the CV90, Ukrainian soldiers highlighted its high durability, greater speed, rapid rate of fire, and Barracuda camouflage, which reduces the vehicle's thermal signature, making it harder to detect by enemy observation methods.
The best infantry fighting vehicles for Ukrainians
Both infantry fighting vehicles are regarded as top equipment of their kind worldwide, repeatedly saving the lives of Ukrainian soldiers. There is no clear winner in this comparison.
Ukrainians consider both the M2A2 Bradley and the CV90 very durable, providing protection against enemy fire and mines. The M2A2 Bradley offers greater firepower and superior optics, while the CV90 is more agile and faster. This is significant, given that the M2A2 Bradley is powered by a Cummins VTA-903T engine with around 500 kilowatts, whereas the heart of the CV90 is a 1,000-kilowatt unit.
As part of support efforts from the USA, approximately 300 units of the M2A2 Bradley have been sent to Ukraine. Sweden has delivered 50 CV90s, with an additional 40 on the way, with assistance from Denmark, which intends to dispatch them to the front as soon as possible.
